First of all, blocks that have been salt water cooled are not re-used. Blocks are surfaced and align honed along with the cylinders being bored and honed. Cylinder heads are surfaced, have new bronze guides installed and valve seats machined with precision 3 angle cutters. Crankshafts are precision ground and polished, and oil holes are chamfered for improved oil flow. Connecting rods are rebuilt using high strength ARP rod bolts. All major internal components including pistons, rings, camshaft, lifters, timing components, valves, valve springs and rod, main and cam bearings are replaced with premium marine quality components. In addition, our marine engines are bored a maximum of .040" over and fitted with high strength hypereutectic pistons with silicone coated skirts. Brass freeze plugs and Fel Pro marine gaskets are used to provide maximum corrosion resistance. Finally all engines are Sym tested as well as water tested under normal operating temperatures.
